exploring spiritual journeys to find answers in uncertainty. is up, Conscious Monkeys? Welcome back to another episode of Traveling to Consciousness. As always, I'm your host, Clayton Kuteri. Today's podcast is going to a little bit of a different one. So on Wednesday nights, I go live on Instagram and I talk about just kind of like, almost like... energies or experiences like I did one on on presence. I think you've heard me mention it before. I've been doing with Shelby. But today the reason I'm bringing this up is because today I'm doing one on comfort and being comfortable and not being comfortable and everything in between. So I figured that a good way to get you guys involved if you're interested was to just record that one. I haven't recorded it yet but I'll like make like a little cut to it. Record that one. Give it to you guys. See what you think. Like a little teaser taste, because as we move along, I'm to be putting all of these videos, all these spiritual ideas behind a paywall so that, you know, can get a little bit of monetization here, you know? but also because there's a lot of value in them and whenever you exchange money, there's a whole energy behind money and I probably should make an entire IG live on money, but I digress. point I'm trying to make here is that this podcast is a little bit different. We're going to be talking about comfort, but I'm also going to be filming an Instagram live while doing it. So let's see how it turns out. Um, the Instagram lives are on Wednesdays at 9 PM Eastern standard time sign up for the newsletter. You can click my link tree in the link down below. Um, go down, sign up for the newsletter. You could also do the 999 meditation challenge. Those will give you links that'll get you logged. They'll get you signed up for the newsletter while I pump out every Monday, just letting you guys know what the topic is. And if you can't listen to the topic, at least you get like a little summary of what's going to be discussed and like my ideas. And then the talk is more of like a flushed out in the moment inspiration, whatever nature is feeding me kind of thing. So I hope you guys enjoy this. If you do make sure you like and share it with somebody so that it tells me that you You know, you did. with that being said, let's jump into the live. Welcome to our live this week. give it a little bit to let some people flow in here. But this week, it's a pretty, pretty fun one. This is going to be one that There's a lot of different ways to go through this. There's a lot of different ways to approach comfort and discomfort and how it can propel us in terms of growth. And there was a cool quote. And I kind of wanted to start this off with that. found the quote is comfort kills ambition. Get uncomfortable, get used to it in your pursuit of your goals and dreams. And to me, that really, really resonated for a lot of reasons. There's a lot of reasons that that felt so true in terms of. and making an impact the way you want to make it. I feel that like a lot of people, if you are struggling in life, especially if you're struggling in life, let's let's start there. It's likely and ironically that you're too comfortable. You have not been pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. And in a weird way, the way that the energies work, the way that the world works is that When you're too comfortable, it like makes a space for the wrong energies, stress energies to come in and play on your tricks on your mind, on your body, on your soul. And so. good, a good analogy that I've always thought about in regards to this is regards to grapes. So if you don't know how grapes are turned into wine, you have to put grapes in an extremely stressful situation. And that's how you create the best wine possible. For instance. If you stress the grapes with some water, as in like the vines receive just enough water, but not terribly a lot to like kind of drowned it. Then the fruit does this weird thing where instead of creating excessive leaves, it'll push all of its energy into the fruit of it. The I guess it would be like the seed or the literal the literal grape of it because that's its reproduction. You know, it needs that to survive. So it's not going to waste any of its resources to grow leaves if the if the fruit itself can't grow. So it creates a higher quality grape. Another thing would be poor soil condition. You know, all these things that grapes need to grow. If you have poor soil, this will also increase and create better growth for the grape. You know, because if you have like a rich, a really rich soil, all the vitamins, all the minerals, all it needs, the vines become lazy. They become the grapes come kind of watery and diluted. They're not like a very strong taste. So if you kind of find a climate, if you find a climate where it's kind of like rocky, poor nutrients, soil. This is essentially what happens in Tuscany. You create grapes that are appreciated and wine that's appreciated all over the world. You're also looking for like temperature swings. So maybe it's super hot one day, maybe it's super cold the next day. And these temperature swings will develop complexity within the grape and therefore the wine. You know, you can see this kind of like in Napa Valley, for instance, where you have those crazy temperature swings. So the grapes have to keep working harder in order to become a more beautiful and more pure grape. And there's so many other things, including like elevation, the slope of the thing, you know, just, just struggling, right? That struggle that exists. And I feel that whether it's been our education system, whatever it's been, maybe it's the culture that we live in. We've been. a little too much to avoid being put in stressful situations. I mean, for let's say a physical physical reasons, right? If you if you stress your body, you stress your muscles appropriately because there's a balance here. If you go too much, you'll hurt yourself. But if you don't put any stress on your body on your muscles, they're not going to grow. You need to break down your muscles in order for them to build themselves back up. And I see this psychologically as well. I have found in my life psychologically or with work, even with jobs, if you're not stressing your mind, if you're not putting that little bit of pressure on it, cause you need this balance, you need enough stress and pressure to get you to that next stage, but not so much that it's going to completely crumble you. So what I've noticed, and this comes from somebody who has four businesses, runs a podcast, has a nonprofit, four businesses in four different fields. This comes from someone who's also a full-time chief software architect. You need to be patient with yourself. A lot of the dopamine fixes in this world are quick fixes happening now. But when it comes to comfort and discomfort, you have to push yourself just a little bit. just past that point of where you're at and what happens psychologically is it will create stress. It'll create stress. Am I worthy? I'm not worthy. I can't do this. This is hard. This is difficult. And if you're able to get just like past that little bit, you're able to push yourself into that diff's comfort zone. That's where you level up. You see the next achievement. You see the next glory, the next improvement in your journey, whatever it might be. And I've noticed this particularly. with so many fields. I see it in all my fields. I see it in the work I do. I see it in training. I see it in everything, but you have to be willing to not know something. So it takes a level of taking a step back and you have to be okay with being uncomfortable and being able to put yourself in a position where you can sit there and say, I'm uncomfortable. This is difficult. Takes you to that next level takes you to that minor improvement that you're looking for. And so what I've noticed is to just take that leap. Take that step. I think there's a lot of fear of, you know, there's a lot of fears judgment. Judgment can definitely pop up judgment from other people judgment from yourself not being good at something, but being able to say you don't know and being uncomfortable in doing that will expedite, it'll catapult your evolution in life. I mean, I know that I've even done some of the most uncomfortable stuff in my entire life from living abroad. I lived in many different countries for extended duration period of time where I didn't even know the primary language there. And it forces you to really get uncomfortable. And now I'm not telling you to quit your job, do something crazy. You can if you want, but you have to just, just a little bit. For example. Say you've never gotten on a plane before, you've never flown anywhere. If you even think about living in a foreign country for three, four months, it'll be way too stressful. Your mind will collapse, it won't happen. You'll create pressure, you'll create tension here, and it just won't happen. Instead, start small. Get a plane ride the closest you can, if it's Pittsburgh to Cleveland, or maybe it's New York to Pittsburgh. Something small and short, just to get the ball rolling. because you'll sit there and be like looking at this huge goal that you have and not be able to attain it because you haven't broken down the steps. And I'm sure where I'm at in life, it's crazy too, because this is how like perspective works is it feels like to me that I could be doing so much more in my life. But at the same time, if I take a step back and list off everything that I've done, all of my businesses, all of my achievements, it's like, wow, like you're crushing it. But you have to be patient with yourself. It takes time. And this is another issue that we run into in regards to the social media applications, the social media apps. is that they give you that short dopamine, that short hit of dopamine. Here you go. Take another one. Take another one. And it does something where it rewires our brain, where we're not able to maybe sit for a long period of time and listen to someone on IG live. You know, maybe it's podcasts and maybe it's, you know, who knows what it is. Insert your thing. Movies, we have to keep flicking between TV stations. So be patient with yourself, get this comfortable, be uncomfortable. It's okay. Find that small amount of discomfort that you can pull off. because you will, it might be uncomfortable in the moment, but afterwards you're going to be so ecstatic. It's going to be life-changing for you. And you're going to sit here and you're be like, why did I never do that before? And I'm to be like, it's cool, but just keep doing it. Because as you push through that discomfort, you'll notice that there's this whole world that opens up afterwards. Because it's almost like you, and here's the caveat, is that it's almost as if if you don't do it, you're gonna be punishing yourself in another way. Thoughts will come to you, I'm terrible, I'm bad, I'm this, I'm that, negative thoughts. But if you do it, it's gonna be like, wow, this is hard, this is difficult. But then afterwards, you're gonna be so grateful, you're gonna be so happy that you actually did it. So get uncomfortable, do the thing that's been causing you discomfort, do the thing that you've been putting off. Go into it. I promise you that on the other end of it is beauty and passion and love and everything you desire. And this is something that even all of the greats talk about all the great people who have revolutionized society. They talk about how you cannot be comfortable. You have to keep pushing that envelope. And it's like, learn how to be comfortable in the, learn how to be comfortable in not being comfortable. It's not easy. I'm not saying it's easy. I'm not saying it's easy by any stretch of the imagination, but it is very beautiful as to what occurs and you'll be so shocked in what you can do when you do it.
